Dragon Boats
Bright and early tomorrow morning, Kyle and I are off to the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival. Inertia Web Design doesn’t have its own team yet, so Kyle and I are going up against each other. I’ll be battling with the Burgar Rowers and Kyle with Mind To Muscle.
The key to dragon boating is your 20 - 25 member team working together as one. It’s absolutely imperative for everyone’s stroke to be working at the exact same time.
It’s wild how this directly relates back to effective web design teams. A large agency with large egos working on a large project may seem like a great idea to a company in need of a successful website. However, the more people added to the equation, the higher the chance your unified stroke will be lost and ultimately, the project’s goals will drift away.
Working with a small team allows a streamlined, uniform approach to website development. It isn’t about the power you put behind the stoke, it’s the effort put into perfecting the stroke itself.
Update: Not even the strongest small teams can stop the wind from wreaking havoc. The races were unfortunately cancelled.
